Dogetipmas Day 4: Mohland Sucks At Hearthstone

Today, we’re going to talk about video games.

I’m not the biggest gamer in my family. That title probably either goes to my dad (Console), or my sister (PC). My gaming rig is well-overdue for an upgrade, and my last console purchase was a PS3 for GTA V.

However, I play a mean game of Civilization, and still run a FTB Minecraft server. As we push deeper into a Twitch integrations (yes, there’s still more to come), we’ve been thinking more about how we can directly bring our weekend gaming addictions over into our daily work lives. What we’re setting up now is something that probably won’t be for everyone, but those of you that want to participate, this should be fun.

I hate to call it a guild, or a clan, or anything that formal. It’s more of a loose affiliation of folks from the Dogecoin community that want to play games with each other and throw some coins around. 🙂 Hell, we don’t quite have a name for it yet. But we want to play games, and we want you to be able to play with us.

We’ve got a number of friends that play/stream as well, so we’re going to bring them in on the action. This really started a while back, when a few of us wanted to start doing some Lets Plays on Twitch — the Dogecoin side of things just happened to fit in neatly.

We set up some new Twitch and Steam accounts, so you can friend us. These accounts will mostly be for us when we’re casting from the office. We’ve got a nice couch to play on now. 🙂

Steam: http://steamcommunity.com/id/wowsuchbusiness/

If things go well tomorrow, we might do a test run. Anyone down for a game?

p.s Yes, I do actually suck at Hearthstone… I just started playing (and I fucking love it). 😀

Dogetipmas Day 3: Love to the Australian Shibes

Shibes,

I don’t know if you know this, but Australia and Dogecoin have some history together. To celebrate our origin story down under, today (well, tonight here) is going to be our official “Celebrate Australia Shibes Day”

Not 100% sure what that means, but it probably involves me tipping you folks, a lot. 🙂

After our Twitter announcement on Monday, even one of our investors got in on the fun (sorry for calling you out Rick…)

Today’s a bit of a fun one, since our work on the next few days announcements got delayed. Was trying to figure out a good idea as to what to do today, and this seemed like the best idea. Plus, it’s still early in Sydney!

Also, I’m jealous. It’s cold here in Arcata and I bet you’re all wearing shorts right now. 😛

Cheers, mates.

Dogetipmas Day 2: Aww Yiss. 25 Million Dogecoins

Shibes,

Remember how we said that this would be the 12(ish) days of Dogetipmas? Well, here’s why:

Giving away 25 million Dogecoins in silly and unique ways is rather hard.

It’s no secret that I’m not a big fan of blanket tips to multiple users at once (call them rains, soaks, etc). They just feel so impersonal. I’ve always preferred to see people receive tips for what they actually do — whether it be making art, music, videos, comments, or… just making me lol in Twitch chat.

So, as a massive “Thank You” to all 76,000+ dogetipbot users (and future users too), Wow Such Business will literally be giving out 25 million Dogecoins over the next few weeks, months, or however long it takes.

Here’s the catch, though — we’re going to do it the Dogecoin way. Doing a “every new user that signs up to dogetipbot gets X amount of Dogecoins” promotion is way too boring (and easy). Same with doing a “post here and get some Dogecoin!” giveaway. We’re not going to set up a faucet or do a basic giveaway or twenty.

On the other hand, there’s a reason this blog post is so late today. I was busy setting up OBS on my office computer so I can play Goat Simulator on Twitch later this week while we make it rain Dogecoins in chat. 😀

That’s just the beginning, of course. We’ve got many, many fun ideas in store for you as we push forward into the next 12(ish) days of Dogetipmas (and some more announcements, too!)

For us, dogetipbot has always been about spreading the fun, silliness, and generosity of the Dogecoin community to the rest of the Internets. We tip because it’s enjoyable, and tens of thousands of you agree.

With that said, we’re about to embark on a fun journey. As Billy Markus says — “Keep Dogecoin Absurd”

Dogetipmas Day 1: dogetipbot launches on Twitter

I’ll admit, I’m not a big Twitter user. Hell, I really suck at keeping my messages under 140 characters.

Since dogetipbot turned a year old yesterday, we’re kicking off our 12(ish) days of Dogetipmas. Yep! 12(ish) fun days of new features, announcements, giveaways, prizes, and overall absurdity.

Today’s announcement?

@dogetipbot is live on Twitter. You can now use your dogetipbot account to tip and get tips on reddit, Twitch, and now, Twitter.

Syntax is simple. Link your twitter account at dogetipbot.com or just tweet @dogetipbot register — and yes, accepting a tip is just as simple (hint: @dogetipbot accept) 😉

To tip? Just as easy.

@dogetipbot tip @mohland 1000

As always, we don’t let you tip $ values. We run a Bot that lets you Tip Dogecoin, after all. ;D

Twitter is quite different than the other services we’ve integrated with, so we’ve tried to keep it as simple and non-intrusive as possible. Verification messages don’t exist to keep things clean for existing users. A successful tip will just get a “Favourite” from dogetipbot, and like always, pending tips will expire after 48 hours if unclaimed.

There’s a few more features we’re going to be adding in on the Twitter integration, but we wanted to get it out there and let you play with it first.

We’ll also be tweaking some functionality and messages throughout the next few days, but we’ve found that working within the 140 character limit can be a bit restric

tive…

😀

Have fun.

On Tipping & Dogecoin

This Saturday, a bunch of misfits, rebels, and weirdos will be gathering in San Francisco to celebrate Dogecoin turning a year old. Yes — we’ll be there.

Shit. We’re growing up so fast.

When I first discovered Dogecoin during the Great Winter Radeon Shortage of 2013, I thought it was the best parody of a cryptocurrency I’d ever seen. I mined a few million, posted about it on Facebook, sent a bunch to my friends, and eventually set up this thing called “dogetipbot” on Reddit.

The rest, as they say… is history.

2014-09-30 17.30.54

A couple of nerds, obviously.

Want to know the strangest part of this story? dogetipbot has processed over 735,000 completed (accepted) tips, totalling $253,000+ USD (over 500 million Dogecoins), and we’re not even a year old yet. We’ve signed up 75,000 users and we’ve barely launched outside of Reddit. Our mean transaction size continues to remain around $0.03 USD, or roughly 60 Dogecoins (averaged).

We continue to defy conventional logic as far as microtransactions are concerned, and we absolutely love it. Hell, we even raised $445k in a seed round to keep this train moving well on into 2015.

Here’s the even stranger thing: we’ve never let you tip in dollar amounts, period. All this has been done with Dogecoin values.

3 months after we launched, our users managed to tip more on Reddit with Dogecoin than Bitcointip users did over a year. That was just absurd.

dogetipbot : often imitated, never duplicated

I’ve been approached many times over the last year about launching a tipbot for altcoins (Bitcoin, Litecoin, DarkCoin, FlavourOfTheMonthCoin) I’ve declined all offers — our core bot is open source and can easily scale up to 30k+ users.

We’re not interested in doing other cryptos, though. Dogecoin is a unique thing, and I don’t think it’s success and awesomeness could ever be replicated by swapping in a new coin. Especially when compared to this:

dogecoin-300

Sure, Bitcoin has been around for 6 years, has a high degree of liquidity, and a metric fuckton of VC backing. However, the success of dogetipbot has always been because of our amazing users and our culture.

/r/dogecoin is often described as “the friendliest place on the Internet” (and for a good reason). We really are a silly bunch. We have a very serious agenda (hint: it’s “Be excellent to each other…”). We’re more likely to post silly images on the Internet than discuss the finer points of International Finance and remittance markets.

We love fundraising and fun equally. Secret Shibes are in almost every major Technology company (and even a few Fortune 500s too). 😉 We’re everywhere, and we’re not going away anytime soon.

Is there room for other players in this space? Absolutely. Will they experience the awesome growth, fun, and community that dogetipbot/Dogecoin has had? Probably not.

With Dogecoin — (I can’t believe I’m saying this) — the size of the tip has never mattered. For every 50000 Dogecoin tip that goes unclaimed there’s thousands of 100 Dogecoin tips accepted. It’s like getting an invitation to an amazing party, where most everyone you meet turns out to be really fun and interesting people.

2014 has been a crazy year for Dogecoin, but dogetipbot and Wow Such Business is just getting started. 2015 is definitely going to be our most fun year yet. We’re extremely excited to make announcements as soon as our new products are done. 🙂

Whether you view Dogecoin as the gateway crypto or just a fun way to throw change at people on the Internet, we’re wholeheartedly committed to this venture.

With that said, I’ll repeat one of my favourite phrases ever: Our users are fucking awesome.

To the moon!

Wow Such Business/dogetipbot is growing. Let me introduce you to our amazing new employees.

Shibes,

This is the post where I introduce our team.

Of course you know myself and /u/dvorwak.  We’re the public duo of dogetipbot. But did you know we’ve got a 3rd dev? /u/liquinox is our amazing dev who codes more than hangs out on reddit. Daniel is insanely awesome, and he likes to hang out behind the scenes, so you won’t see him too much. 🙂

Also, I’m also pleased to annouce that /u/mumzie is our newest employee, in charge of community support and helping you all out. She’s been volunteering her time on /r/dogetipbot and has been the BEST HELPER EVER. She’s now in charge of customer support. I’m sure you’ll be pleased.

Also, we have another redditor (Christna), who will be joining us shortly. She’s awesome, she’s a shibe, and she’s going to help us go to the moon. 🙂  We really have the best team, ever. Cheers all,
